Will Ferrell + Bear Grylls = awesome.

Is there anything more entertaining than Will Ferrell and Bear Grylls drinking their own urine?
The star joined the host of Man vs. Wild for an upcoming episode of the Discovery Channel show, set to air in June. Its a stellar example of cross marketing promotion with Ferrells Land of the Lost scheduled for release June 5.

In the episode, Ferrell joins Grylls in the far north of Sweden and they spend 48 hours taking on Mother Nature. They rappel down hundred-foot frozen waterfalls, tandem-abseil off a helicopter and huddle for warmth overnight in subzero temperatures. The two also find food in the forest, improvise snow shoes and drink their own urine (because, come on, what is an episode of Man vs. Wild without some urine drinking?)
Will did an amazing job in subzero, very unforgiving conditions, Grylls said. He trusted me when it mattered, and we survived. He should be very proud of how he performed.
Ferrell called the stint on Man vs. Wild a thrill of a lifetime, even though I did get urine-drunk, which is sad.
The two even eat reindeer eyeballs (ick) together.
That says it all, said Discovery Channel prexy-general manager John Ford.

Underage Sex Slavery Calls For Response and Mo' Gossip

"Call + Response," a new documentary funded solely through donations, explores the underbelly of the juvenile sex trade. With compelling first hand accounts by activists such as Madeleine Albright, Daryl Hannah, Julia Ormond, and Ashley Judd, along with performances by musical artists including Moby, Natasha Bedingfield, Matisyahu, Imogen Heap, members of Nickel Creek and Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers, the film goes undercover and calls upon everyone to stop the misery.

Too many drugs in the House of O'Neal. Daughter Tatum an admitted coke head and now the boys. Ryan O'Neal and son Redmond were arrested after police found a suspicious substance resembling methamphetamine. Lawyers for the tony two denied any wrongdoing.

Lego has created a cadre of glitterati to celebrate its 30th Anniversary. Mini figures such as Madonna, Amy Winehouse, Posh and Becks, and Simon Cowell will go on display, but won't be released to the public.

Another star-studded fundraiser for Barack Obama netted about $9 Million in contributions. The main attraction was a concert by Barbra Streisand. Notable celebrity supporters included Will Ferrell, Jodie Foster, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Lee Curtis, Steven Spielberg, David Geffen and Jeffrey Katzenberg.

And speaking of Obama, actor Ed Norton has agreed to stop publicizing his upcoming documentary about the rise of Barack Obama. According to Norton,

We're making a historical record and not something to play a role in the election, so we have an agreement that this is something we won't talk a lot about or publicize until the election is over. I can't really comment on our access to Obama because it's part of our arrangement with the campaign, but it's a fascinating thing to be able to be documenting. We'll have an opportunity to talk about that process when it's all unfolded but we kind of have to stay off the record about it until it's all resolved.

How I spent my summer

I'm thrilled to announce that in 2008 my book on what musicians are doing to change the world will be released by Omnibus Press. I spent the summer interviewing musicians on the projects that are near and dear to their heart. I had the opportunity to interview Martin Sexton, Elliott Yamin, Gavin DeGraw, Chuck Leavell (musician for the Rolling Stones) and more. Some artists shared personal stories about the tragedies and triumphs in their life and how they are trying to make a difference. Other artists, such as Chuck Leavell, contributed essays about important topics to them. For example, would you know that Chuck is a save-the-trees forest expert? He's written books on the subject and has done a tremendous amount to help our forests. Sometimes when we watch our favorite bands, we think that this is all they do. It's interesting to find out that they have other passions as well. I'll keep you posted on the happenings!

Oh and a little momma bragging if you don't mind. My daughter has started a teen literary blog site, so if you have time, check it out. It's great that in this day and age, there are teens like her who still love to read. Feel free to pass on the blog to those you know.

And in other news: Absolut recently held an event in honor of ABSOLUT New Orleans, a limited-edition bottle that was on shelves for three months. 100% of the profit from sales went to help five different charities around the gulf coast. At the event, celebrities Will Ferrell, Eva Longoria, Brooke Shields, Whoopi Goldberg, Matthew McConaughey and Michael Imperioli signed bottles that were then silent-auctioned off at the event. There was also a Fats Domino poster and a guitar signed by Little Steven Van Zandt.

The production of Absolut New Orleans will be accompanied by a minimum charitable donation of $2 million to organizations benefiting New Orleans and cities along the Gulf Coast. The Absolut Spirits Company, Inc. will donate 100 percent of its ABSOLUT NEW ORLEANS profits to charities along the Gulf Coast, including organizations in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. ABSOLUT NEW ORLEANS will celebrate the spirit of the city by forging partnerships with non-profit organizations that are dedicated to rebuilding the Gulf region. New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, Hands On Gulf Coast, Volunteer Mobile, Tipitina’s Foundation and the Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Foundation will each receive a monetary donation to support programs that will help rebuild their respective cities and revive the vibrant culture of the Gulf.
